                                           McLaughlin Centennial Notes

The McLaughlin Centennial Committee has been busy making plans for our 100th year celebration next June 18-21,2009. This summer some of the committee members and their families and friends had a float in the parades at Mobridge, McIntosh, and Timber Lake to advertise for the celebration. The theme for the float was "Hope to see you at the McLaughlin Centennial Celebration for some Good Clean Fun." Committee members Della Hauck, Latara Pateneaude and Cindy Seibel were the "chicks in the tub." Joining the on the float were Richard Martell, Charlie and Keisha Bailey, Sarah and Paulette Seibel, Brandi and Dalton Martian and Madison Rau. They received lots of ooohs and aaahs from the crowds.

Some of the plans are to kick off the celebration on Thursday night with a German Dinner at the city auditorium with old time music being played during dinner by Wesley Schaible from Hosmer. Following the meal will be the crowning of the Centennial King and Queen in the centennial tent. There will be birthday cake and ice cream for everyone. Afterwards Bill Schwan of Aberdeen will entertain with his old time music.

The rodeo will be followed by the dance in the tent with the band Thunder Road from Hettinger playing.

There will be a carnival,Charles Amusement from Grand Forks, N.D. for all four days. We will be selling coupons for wristbands that will be good for the whole day, so kids start saving your money!! Along with the carnival, there will be pony rides, the National Guard Obstacle Course and other games to keep everyone busy.
